The pedestrian rule that catches everyone
If a vehicle collides with a pedestrian, the driver will be prosecuted irrespective of who had right of way.
Right of way is not a defence for hitting someone. The duty to avoid the collision sits with the person driving the heavy fast object, and it does not transfer to the person who stepped out.
