Amber is not 'hurry'
Amber means stop, unless you are so close that stopping would be dangerous — because the vehicle behind you would run into you, or because you are already past the stop line.
It is not permission to accelerate through. The question that catches people phrases it as though amber were a warning to speed up, and it is the opposite: it is a warning to stop.
